From the heart of our design,

The strict choice of our green construction material to the options of personal care products we offer to our guests, Maison Bukana has embraced sustainability as part of its essence. Profoundly against greenwashing, we believe in making smart, efficient, and durable alternatives as well as going the extra mile in investing in long-term solutions. Not only it is our moral responsibility to lower our carbon footprint as much as possible and enhance our environment but, pragmatically, having a virtuous relationship with the ecosystem and the local community is the only way to thrive as a responsible part of society, all of this while increasing the well-being and quality of life of one another.

Our design and structure were thought to harvest as much as possible the energy of Nature. The open space has a high ceiling naturally ventilated that invites the breeze in and sometimes even some curious exotic birds. Maison Bukana adopted natural lighting to reduce energy consumption with skylights that lets the morning and sunset rays in. Our signature natural bamboo roof, the first of its own in Siargao, is also a gigantic rainwater collection system and thanks to it, we proudly rely 100% on rainwater to service our guests and to fill our natural stone pool.

During the construction, we made sure to always select and invest in long lasting green equipment’s and materials. We are the first and only structure in Siargao made entirely with Ecocast®️ from the innovative filipino company Green Antz Builders. While benefiting from a first-class earthquake proof, fireproof, temperature isolated and one of the sturdiest hollow block invented, it allowed us to neutralize more than 6 tons of single use plastic waste from island open dumpsites that would have scattered back in the wild otherwise. We applied the same logic in choosing our appliances with highly energy efficient premium equipment.

Our commitment towards conservation and sustainability is not only limited to our architecture alone. Our room amenities, personal care, kitchen and laundry provisions are all plant-based and natural and are exclusively fashioned for our guests in Maison Bukana to ensure that we carry out our green efforts.  

In our Kitchen, our polished and refine food selections are prepared using organic products that are available and sustainable from the island. We are delighted to have been able to establish our farm to table approach for most of our cuisines, growing ourselves a diversity of greens, herbs and fruits that surely adds more gist to your gastronomic experience with us.

we feel a deep sense of responsibility to nurture and protect our environment as well as the local community and aim to set a benchmark for the local tourism industry.
